Tornadoes….!!!!!??????

January 22nd, 2010

So here we are in Tucson and there are possibilities of tornadoes!!! Brings up a big question..??? How do we prepare our kids to survive a disaster if we were to have one here? What things do you need to have packed and ready.. some favorite toys, soothing items, foods, drinks, clothes.. what would your child need if you had to leave your house immediately?

Do you have a ‘to-go-bag’ that you have packed to take if you needed to bring your child to the doctor, dentist, store or where ever you need to go and your child may have to wait for you. What type of things do you need to put in it?

If you have some great ideas of things that work for your child share them with us….

Have a blessed day!

weather… who does it affect?

January 21st, 2010

This cloudy and colder weather that we are experiencing has been an interesting break from all of the warm and wonderful sunshine that we normal have; at least that is what some people think. Let’s ask our kids, teens and adults with sensory overload issues. People that are affected by an impaired sensory integration system don’t always do well when the weather changes, some become more edgy, or become more easily upset, or become more anxious. We have noticed a changes in behavior with some of the children that we work with, how about you? What have you noticed if anything?

It’s a new year!

January 18th, 2010

Welcome to 2010! The year brings with it new information, new numbers and new challanges… It also brings in new blessings, new friendships, new changes and new hope!

‘Angels’ (as we have become know to many) have had some great successes in 2009 and we look forward to many more this year!! We have met many new friends and have new providers too! Our providers have accomplished some very cool stuff during habilitation with thier kids (clients), some have begun to teach skills through cooking, or outings to the Children’s Museum, or eating and playing with many different children at McDonald’s play land, or feeding ducks at the park and writing stories about it!

Our ‘Horses with Wings Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program’ has become a bright spot for our students also! We are hosted at Horse Haven on the east side of town and our lessons are taught by Lisa a very talented instructor. The riding arena is specially designed for our riders, with a ‘garden theme’. There are flowers for picking, gates to open, mail boxes for special delivery and bells for ringing! You are all invited to come and visit us!

We would like to invite you to make comments on our blog and bring up topics that you find interesting as long as they are within the guidelines we have defined.

We wish you all a very blessed day!
